In this exciting and highly visible role, you will have the opportunity to deliver real value to NBME® and help us meet our mission. As a key member of the Cloud Services team, the Senior Cloud Engineer will be charged with designing, building, and implementing Infrastructure as Code on the AWS platform. In collaboration with the Cloud Services team the Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the designing and implementing of the automation strategy, service processes and design of cloud support processes for infrastructure services as well as supporting cloud based automated infrastructure.

POSITION DUTIES
- The infrastructure developer writes the code to automate the creation or manipulation of the environment that powers software that the application developer creates. The goal is to deploy software to infrastructure that customers can use
- Independently create robust, scalable, and high-quality automation solutions for infrastructure defined software.
- Create and manage roles, configuration policies, permission sets and system/software automation procedures for cloud wide services.
- Develop clear, concise installation and configuration procedures, runbooks, and contribute to the maintenance of operational standards
- Develop and document Cloud Services operational processes for new account requests, creating, additional logging, service provisioning
- Can perform deep dive analysis to understand the operational expenses and their drivers across all AWS accounts and services and make recommendations to lower costs when possible.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical leadership, participate in SWATs as needed
- Design and manage processes to review daily statistics, alert response, logs and tuning for both performance and security.
- Knowing and implementing Cloud best practices, remain current with AWS technology changes, assess, and implement new features as required. Track for services for decommissioning roadmaps.
- Create automated approaches and scripts for system administration tasks where possible and appropriate
- Build and innovate tools and automation to replace manual operational processes, such as configuration and deployment, work with engineering teams on infrastructure product development.
- Root cause analysis and resolution of issues related to application configuration, deployment, and performance Design automated systems management solutions with self-repair as the goal
- Implementation of system and service telemetry to enable improvements in reliability and availability, Development of deep insight into application and service performance
- Provide build and deployment automation support (CI/CD)
- Ensuring system security through understanding and execution of industry best practices
- Create processes that enhance operational workflow and provide positive customer impact
REQUIREMENTS
Skills and Abilities
- Full understanding of the AWS cloud ecosystem that NBME applications will utilize including our multi-cloud approach to Cloud strategy
- Process orientation - ability to address systemic challenges by creating, documenting, and implementing processes
- CICD / Deployment process understanding
- Redshift or Dynamo experience?
- IAM Skills
- Scripting language, python, type script
- General Knowledge of Networking and API knowledge to be able to troubleshoot VPC, API Gateway, DNS and Application Firewall issues.
- Troubleshooting analytical thinking systems wide holistic thinking problem solving
- Experience with JIRA and working in a agile methodology
- Service Excellence focus
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years' applicable experience as a cloud engineer.
- At least 5 years' experience in IT Infrastructure (networks, security, operating systems platforms, web systems and/or database management)
- Experienced in AWS S3, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, CDK/ CFT, Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, SNS, SQS,
- Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM), Account and organization provisioning, VPC configuration
- IaC Software Development
- AWS Pipeline technologies Code Commit, Code Deploy, Code Artifact
- Experience in Azure Serverless functions is a plus
- Thorough understanding of API technologies and Microservices architecture
- ITIL Service Management experience
Education
A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology Systems, Computer Science, or related field
