What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Surveyor position at NCB?
National Cargo Bureau (NCB) is presently seeking applicants for a full-time Marine Cargo Surveyor position in our New Orleans office. Positions often become available in other ports throughout the United States, and all interested qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
NCB is a private not-for-profit organization, established in 1952 by the US Coast Guard, dedicated to the safe loading, stowage, and carriage of maritime cargoes, with seventeen offices covering all major ports in the continental United States and Hawaii. Candidates with an Unlimited Master or Mates License’s and sailing experience are preferred, however applicants with other grades of sea-going licenses are encouraged to apply. Graduation from a recognized Federal Maritime Academy or State Maritime College (or international equivalent) and former US Coast Guard personnel with a strong background in Marine Safety are encouraged to apply. Bulk carrier/draft survey experience and/or Container Ship/Hazmat Cargo experience is desirable, but not essential as full training will be provided to the right candidate. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Only US Citizens and Legal US Permanent Residents will be considered for the positions. Candidates will be required to obtain a Transportation Workers Credential (TWIC) before commencing employment. A valid Driver’s License issued by a US State is also required.
NCB offers a comprehensive pay and benefits package which includes a Pension Plan and company matching 401K Plan, Medical and Dental Plan, and Paid Vacation. First year salary including Weekend Compensation, COLA and Annual Bonus is $84K plus, with additional advancement opportunities for the motivated individual. Relocation assistance is provided.
