Positions Summary 

The Systems Engineer is responsible for theneeds of our Campus infrastructure and is critical to the success of our staff and students.  Reporting to the Manager, Technical Operations Engineering, they would be part of a growing team of engineers that work together to stabilize, secure,and modernize the existing environment.  They will work closely with project management,staff, and leadership to help us reach our goals,innovate, and provide exceptional support to our environment. 

Position Responsibilities 

• Troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems and determiningthe most appropriate meansof resolutionto improvesystemsperformance. 
• Supporting the planning, procuring, designing, developing, configuring, and commissioningofsystemsand associated resourcesfor monitoring and incident management. 
• Monitoring the overall performance of systems to assess the need for updates, upgrades, enhancements, preventive maintenance, and new systems, and recommending options for upgrading and improving the performance of systems. 
• Technical Support: Act as an escalation point for complex issues, ensuring timelyresolution and minimizing downtime. 
• Systemsdocumentation and policy design/compliance. 

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities 

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and/or [5] years equivalent work experience and certifications.
• Relevant certifications in Infrastructure and Systems managementpreferred. 
• In-depth knowledge of hypervisors, serverhardware, storage devices, and operating systems. 
• Systemsprotocol concepts (DNS, SMTP, SFTP, IIS). 
• Systemsmonitoringconcepts (SolarWinds, etc.). 
• Ability to understand, support and communicate senior management goals and decisions. 
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, synchronous and asynchronous. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identifyand resolve complex technical issues efficiently. 
• Familiarity with Networktroubleshootingpreferred, diagnosing issues across all OSI layers.
