ND Paper, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings) Limited, the largest containerboard producer in China and Asia, and a leading paper product manufacturer globally. We are an environmentally-friendly company that manufactures various types of high-quality pulp, paper and paper-based packaging materials. Our mills in Rumford, Maine and Biron, Wisconsin are integrated paper & pulp facilities, and our mill in Fairmont, West Virginia is one of only three in the world that produces air-dried, recycled pulp. We anticipate our fourth mill, in Old Town, Maine, will reopen in 2019. We are proud of our 1,200 dedicated employees, who together produce more than 1.2 million short tons of pulp & paper annually.

We are currently seeking a Purchasing Assistant. This ideal candidate is someone that is highly motivated, with strong work ethic, who demands excellence in oneself and others. The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for creating/maintaining accurate orders, confidential internal stakeholder and supplier communications, and supporting purchasing policy compliance. The successful candidate for this position has broad computer software and communication skills, understanding of the critical responsibility purchasing plays in ND Paper success, and is resourceful in a fast-paced start-up environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work
  • Support OTM purchasing activities, equipment and repair parts, industrial supplies, outside services, and miscellaneous commodities.
  • Create purchase orders to contracted sources or as directed by the Buyer, verifying appropriate PO data.
  • Timely troubleshooting and resolution of purchase order and scheduling agreement issues.
  • Verify purchase order acknowledgements are received from the supplier, ensuring accurate pricing, economic quantity, unit of measure, and accurate delivery date
  • Work with supplier and OTM operations for timely deliveries to ensure needs are met.
  • Perform SAP pricing updates as needed
  • Facilitate service invoices through approval process and complete subsequent service entries.
  • Proactively troubleshoot/correct order irregularities to prevent invoicing/receiving issues.
  • Enter receipts for Purchase Orders as needed.
  • MRT/PIR set up new stores items.
  • Maintain and support OTM facility compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and corporate purchasing policies.
  • Provide training as required.
  • Provide coverage as needed for Purchasing team absences.
  • General filing
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience:

  • Must be able develop, broaden, and apply knowledge and expertise in SAP systems
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with employees, departments, and with all levels of management and vendors
  • Must develop knowledge of commodities used by the mill, as well as supply sources for the various commodities.
  • Must be detail orientated, self-starter, proactive in prioritizing duties and identifying potential issues and opportunities.
  • Must demonstrate strong initiative, perseverance, and ambition for continuous learning.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  • Business Accounting education and/or previous experience in purchasing is preferred.
  • Must successfully pass MS Office suite testing in Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
