The Energy Manager will work under the direction of the Utilities Business Unit Manager. This is a full-time salaried position. The hours of the position will be Monday through Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM with additional hours as needed to support the operation of a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
Summary Description:
The Energy Manager at the Rumford Mill is primarily responsible for managing all energy related items for both the Rumford Mill and Old Town Mill. The work of the Energy Manager includes budgeting and forecasting energy usage, monitoring energy source markets and developing purchase plans. The Energy Manager works closely with departments to reduce energy usage.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work.
- Retrieve and import weather data, CMP load data and CMP mill meter data daily.
- Monitor gas /electric / liquid fuel markets.
- Review Mill Energy metrics; steam / condensate return / Plant Electrical load / Condensing on a continuous basis
- Review and update mill usage and forecasting totals on a continuous basis.
- Provide control room guidance adjustments.
- Participate in energy reduction and efficiency improvement discussions.
- Create annual Energy budget.
- Work closely with operation and maintenance groups to reduce energy usage.
- Develop purchasing plans - Gas / Electrical
- Develop plans; including but not limited to Cogen Operation Plan / Load Plan / Load Management Plan / DR PRD Plan
- Initiate purchase requisitions.
- Will not be restrained by barriers or job descriptions – ability to help the entire team drive the facility toward continued success.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering with 10-15 years of experience in the pulp and paper or related industry OR the equivalent training and/or experience.
- Must be very flexible, and able to manage multiple priorities, both short and long term.
Skills Required:
- Proficient in Excel
- Previous knowledge of SAP preferred, Microsoft office, MS Outlook e-mail.
- Candidate must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to handle multiple time sensitive projects and issues.
- The ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management.
