About the job:
Are you an experienced, methodical and thorough title searcher who enjoys the challenge of inspecting real estate records to discover key information? Near North is looking for a Title Searcher to perform searches on commercial and residential properties and examine the data, assess deeds, easements, mortgages, liens and other documents, and analyze legal descriptions. We provide a collaborative, energetic, team environment. Our company is a growing title insurance operation with multi-state market presence and national outreach.
As the Title Searcher, you will have a significant role in the title insurance process, compiling detailed reports on your findings, and making certain that your data is timely, comprehensive and accurate. You will investigate online and county records, produce lists of transactions based on your searches, determine chain of title, prepare reports on relevant title matters, create property reports for title examiners, assist with special projects and much more.
What you bring to the table:
- College degree preferred.
- 5 years commercial and/or residential searching experience.
- Indiana Title Producers license (can be obtained after hire).
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
- Superior organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with online searching systems, MS Office and PDF readers/writers.
You’ll be working on:
- Searching both commercial and residential properties using online and county resources.
- Analyzing and evaluating records relating to commercial and residential real estate properties.
- Examining lot books, geographic and general indices, and assessor's rolls to compile lists of transactions.
- Assessing documents such as deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, and plats/maps in determining required document copies.
- Determining ownership, encumbrances, and verifying legal descriptions of property.
- Reading and drawing out complex legal descriptions.
- Analyzing chain of title and preparing reports outlining title-related matters.
- Preparing property reports for title examiners.
- Traveling to various county recorder’s offices, as needed.

Locations: While we'd ideally like to have this employee in a physical office in IN or MI, we are open to it being remote for the right person. You must be located in Indiana, Southern Michigan, Western Ohio or Northern Kentucky to be considered for this remote opportunity.
