Production Support Designer
Major activities include production support of our engineered packaging solutions and the approval of bill of materials and manufacturing instructions. The production support designer attends the daily morning production meetings, understand and resolve production issues with the support of other production and engineering members. The designer is also to do design activities to improve production process, reduce cost and improve quality. The designer is expected to get involved in packaging solution design activities with producibility in mind.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support production of packaging solutions
- Review, approve and modify bill of materials and manufacturing instructions as needed
- Attend daily morning production meeting/s with Manufacturing
- Understand and resolve production issues and disposition factory nonconformance requests
- Develop new design or modify existing design with sound judgement to improve production, reduce cost and improve quality
- Involved in new product development as well as design improvement projects with producibility in mind
- Demonstrate sound judgement and adhere to industry standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of Nefab packaging designs. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise.
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses engineering judgment to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance from other experienced engineers. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- A job at this level is an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Minimum of 2 years CAD experience. Prior work in a production environment is a plus.
Desired Characteristics
- Prior knowledge of packaging design and/or manufacturing.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Have a Continuous Improvement (Lean) approach.
- Prior experience in design and/or production environment
- Ability to read blueprints
