Job Summary:

The Pediatric Physician provides and manages direct pediatric medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients in accordance with evidence-based guidelines within a recognized area of practice.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision for advanced practitioners when mutually decided upon with clinician and CMO or designee.
  • Supervises student and resident education rotations at NOAH sites when mutually decided upon with clinician and CMO or designee.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides and manages direct pediatric patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Reviews and updates medical records in compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Interacts with patients and families to keep them informed and engaged in the decisions and direction of health care.
  • Provides counseling education and resource information on wellness, prevention of illness and health maintenance
  • Refers pediatric patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • Trains and supervises medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
  • Directs and coordinates the pediatric patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Abides by and enforces all PPE standards for clinical staff.
  • Attends, participates, and/or assists in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other activities as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

NOAH requires all new hires to have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine before their start date and be scheduled for their second dose. New hires who choose to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only need one dose to fulfill this requirement. Reasonable accommodations will be considered.

Qualifications


Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
  • Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Internship and Residency completed in an accredited Pediatric Residency Program (M.D./D.O.) required.
  • Arizona State Physician License, active and in good standing, required.
  • Board Certified or Eligible in Pediatrics (ABP or AOBP) required.
  • Basic Life Support required
  • DEA required.
  •  X waiver, ability to prescribe Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).
  • Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or must pass fingerprint clearance within 7 days following hire.
