Position Summary: The adult education teacher provides instruction, supervision, and assessment of students enrolled in Neighbors’ Educational Opportunities’ (NEO’s) Adult Education program.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching license, preferred
2. Bachelor’s Degree (in education or related field) and two years teaching experience, considered
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare and deliver NEO’s multi-leveled, integrated English language/ Civic curriculum to a small group of adults for whom English is a second language;
2. Monitor, assess and document student performance and progress;
3. Conduct timely post-testing on students to measure progress;
4. Provide students with appropriate feedback and encouragement;
5. Maintain accurate and complete records of student information, testing, attendance and gains in InTERS and hard copies;
6. Conduct scheduled new student intake/registration;
7. Conduct weekly follow-up with students and their goals;
8. Supervise volunteer coordinators;
9. Attend and participate in assigned professional development and scheduled staff meetings;
10. Work collaboratively with assigned aides to attend to the needs of the students and program. 11. Coordinate services and programs with other providers, programs, and services as appropriate.
