We are looking for a Product Manager for our Control Valves Product Line. You will be responsible for the product management of control valves in North America and the efforts required to ensure increased sales volume, market share, and profits for Neles control valves. You will function as the primary technical resource for the Sales Department and distribution channel regarding the assigned product line. You will report to the Head of Control Valves Product Line.

DESCRIPTION OF MAIN DUTIES:

  • Promote products and supply technical expertise to sales, distributors, reps and customers as the expert of control valves. Plan and conduct product sales presentations and seminars to prospective customers domestically and in foreign countries.
  • Provide technical assistance as required for the preparation of control valve quotations and proposals. Advise with correct product sizing and selection.
  • Arrange product training to sales, distributors, reps and Neles internal organization for effective application of our products.
  • Interact with engineering to determine actions required to correct field problems arising out of product failure or misapplication. Function as the primary marketing authority in warranty determinations.
  • Establish both short and long-term product strategies. Develop the product offering according to the strategy in cooperation with other stakeholders. Release new products and product features to the market.
  • Interact with manufacturing organization to ensure timely and adequate supply of products. Improve the product availability based on the market needs.
  • Coordinate product stocking programs at distributors. Evaluate and initiate further development of the product availability at the distributors.
  • Continuously monitor product cost level and pricing and take needed actions to ensure our competitive position.
  • Investigate and communicate competitor responses to market changes. Monitor and understand competitive responses to our activities and strategies.
  • Determine the need for and suggest appropriate product advertising. Write articles for publication that will increase our customers’ awareness of our technical expertise.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum five years of experience in relevant field e.g. in product management, sales or marketing, preferably in valve industry
  • Experience with control valves (especially globe valves) is considered as a strong asset
  • Must be familiar with the various ways of channeling industrial products to market, such as direct sales, representatives, and distributors. Some knowledge of how products are designed and manufactured, and basic financial skills is very helpful.
  • Must possess the skills to coordinate functions within the department and external to the company to satisfy customer and channel expectations.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, in conjunction with organizational skills, are essential to performing this job.
  • The ability to understand complex issues, react to multiple demands, and the capability to set proper priorities are essential.
  • Independent decision making and planning abilities.
  • Ability to function and work effectively with other cultures is a necessity. Must be capable of interacting effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Travel as required to promote both our products and our company.
  • Must comply with all applicable federal, state and organizational Health, Safety , Environment (HSE) requirements.
