What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host/Hostess position at Nell's Table?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing individual to join our team as Host for our cooking class teaching kitchen & private event venue, Nell’s Table. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating memorable experiences for our guests while providing exceptional customer service.
As Host for cooking classes, you will be responsible for setting up, welcoming guests, assisting the teaching chef, ensuring a smooth event flow, supervising clean up, and contributing to a warm and inviting atmosphere. As Host for private event venue, you will be responsible for making sure the space is ready for private events without customer contact.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome teaching kitchen guests upon arrival, creating a positive and welcoming first impression
- Supervise event setup and breakdown, including preparing the kitchen and dining area & cleaning up after events
- Work with manager to get supplies and ingredients, set up participant work stations with kitchen tools and equipment needed for class, set dining table for guests
- Provide clear and informative instructions to guests regarding the cooking class format, safety guidelines, and equipment usage
- Assist teaching chef as needed
- Serve beverages
- Ensure the event space is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies
- Address guest inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally, going above and beyond to exceed expectations
- Collaborate with the culinary team and manager to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for guests
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment
- Supervise kitchen assistants & ensure thorough clean up
- Set up for private events at our rented event venue without customer contact
Qualifications
- Proven experience in customer service or working with the community
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Enthusiasm for food, cooking, and creating memorable experiences
- Appreciation for & experience with a well-laid tablescape and high quality dining experience
- Knowledge of cooking techniques and terminology
- Flexible availability to work evenings and weekends
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
