What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plumbing Specialist position at Nelson Labs?
The Plumbing Specialist (PS) is responsible for providing technical expertise in all aspects of plumbing needs regarding laboratory equipment, facilities and associated supporting systems. The (PS) will follow all state and other regulatory requirements while performing new installations, repair/maintenance, and will provide good housekeeping practices while performing their duties. The (PS) will give technical advice, recommendations, and support to other departments/sections for projects, issues and/or questions.
Education and experience requirements:
- A.S. or high school diploma or equivalent and five years of experience/training as a professional plumber.
- Utah Journeyman Plumbing License required.
Essential Duties:
- Implementation of safe work practices during installation, troubleshooting and testing of plumbing systems.
- Thorough knowledge of local plumbing codes
- Understand and service high pressure steam systems.
- Cutting, soldering, and brazing copper piping.
- Cutting, threading, and assembling steel piping.
- Understand and perform general service of compressed air systems.
- Understanding of RO/DI & other water treatment systems
- Maintains plumbing systems, clearing clogged drainpipes and traps, installing, and replacing plumbing fixtures, repairing broken pipes, valves, and water leaks.
- Maintain supplies and equipment
- Make recommendations for improvement where needed
Regulatory Compliance
- Know and follow applicable regulatory requirements (GMP, GLP, ISO, etc.).
- Know and follow company policies and procedures.
- Complete required training on time.
Professionalism
- Attend work regularly and reliably.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment:
- This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, computer mouse, photocopiers, etc.
- May occasionally work outside and in temperatures above 95 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
- Will climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis during each shift.
- Travel requirements.
- Occasional travel during the business day. Some out-of-the area and overnight travel may be expected. May be required to attend trade shows, seminars, and conferences and other company locations.
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and assist in moving heavy equipment, etc.
- More than 75% of time spent walking, lifting, or working on equipment.
- The remaining time spent at desk.
Salary : $52,800 - $66,800
