What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at Nelson Staffing?
Summary: Manages and coordinates all productionactivities, operations, and staff to ensure conformance to establishedprocedures; implements practices that maximize production efforts to improvethe overall effectiveness and financial performance of the production function.
Essential Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the production department, to include: staffing levels, budgets, production volume, raw materials usage and financial goals
- Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the production department
- Provide daily support to all associates in the areas of safety, production problems, quality issues and associate need as they arise
- Assure that associates have all the proper tools and equipment in proper working condition to perform their necessary job duties
- Conduct regular (daily, weekly) meetings with associates to communicate important information such as production changes, business news, order rates, safety programs and issues, overtime needs, etc., and listen to associate input on issues
- On a daily basis move throughout the various work areas to offer support, gain input from lead persons and associates and monitor production activities
- Complete and maintain necessary paperwork required and associated with the production operations
- Facilitate and promote the team concept by working with associates as a team member through coaching, leading, listening, coordinating and supporting. Demonstrate awareness and commitment to Company Values
- Communicate and coordinate on a daily basis with other supervisors and managers to assure maximum product quality and productivity
- Analyze and document business processes and problems
- Develop solutions to enhance efficiencies
- Direct staff in the development, analysis and preparation of reports
- Supervise staff in accordance with Company policies and procedures
- Conduct counseling sessions and issue disciplinary action as necessary
- Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments, rotations, training, vacations, breaks, overtime assignment and back-up for absent employees
- Schedule and conduct plantwide safety training
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent

- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
