Summary Duties and Responsibilities: *

The Director of Operations develops, manages, and assists with the implementation of multiple concurrent strategic initiatives at Nevada HAND operating groups, and coordinates with the organization’s Continuous Improvement program. In collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer, this individual leads critical priority projects with Property Management, Maintenance & Safety, Resident Services, Compliance and Assisted Living to strategize process improvement and formulate streamlined solutions.

Essential Functions and Work Duties:
The following essential functions of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with leadership, and/or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.

Operational Leadership and Project Management

In collaboration with the Operations Leadership Team, lead efforts to deliver excellence and process improvement in Property Management, Maintenance & Safety, Resident Services, Compliance and Assisted Living, aligned with Nevada HAND’s vision and strategies.

  • Develop and produce project proposals, contracts, scopes of work, work plans, detailed progress reports, and deliver presentations as required.
  • Produce detailed business plans and reports using data and process mapping.
  • Utilize information and data analytics to lead operational transformation and process improvement in Property Management, Maintenance, Resident Services, Compliance and Assisted Living.
  • Develop project dashboards and facilitate the establishment of KPIs and targets to measure project and property progress and performance.
  • Deliver and steward methods that enable the organization to enhance its long-term effectiveness, sustainability, and performance.
  • Analyze the performance and best practices of industry peers; propose appropriate strategies that will improve Nevada HAND’s operations.

Continuous Improvement

Identify and deliver service enhancement activities across departments through the implementation of process improvement methodologies and the application of innovative thinking.

  • Collaborate with department leaders and liaisons to identify policies and procedures that can be improved or are obsolete.
  • Lead, facilitate, and document Continuous Improvement based workshops to develop concepts and solutions.
  • Support the delivery of increased efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes, and identification of efficient work practices.
  • Work with department teams to develop support materials based on revised processes, including training, reporting, and systems enhancements.
  • Actively monitor and quantify project risks, detect potential challenges, and identify solutions to address identified risks/challenges.
  • Complete post-implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made for future projects.
  • Supervise and provide support to daily business operational functions.
  • Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence of all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety guidelines.

Education and/or Experience: *

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent training and experience.

  • At least seven years of broad-based relevant experience, including at least five years’ experience in a project management leadership role.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in the creation and management of department metrics and budget.
  • Experience in designing or implementing a framework of continuous improvement and LEAN solutions.
  • Experience in hands-on implementation of continuous improvement programs and LEAN solutions.
  • Experience in designing remediation plans to address productivity and efficiency issues, and track record of following through to ensure closure.

Physical Requirements: *

Stooping - frequently bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

  • Kneeling - frequently bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees.
  • Reaching - frequently extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Handling - frequently seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
  • Ability to transport files up to approximately 20 pounds.
  • Ability to lift files up to 20 pounds from the ground level to 4 feet in height and move them from shelf to shelf in storage.
  • Regularly required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse and calculator while seated at a desk.
  • Able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
