Job Description

Nevada State University (NSU) invites applications for the position of Student Worker - Visual Media Lab Tech. The student worker will provide laboratory support for the School of Liberal Arts, Sciences & Business, the Visual Media program in particular, with managing equipment, assisting students, and maintaining studio spaces and facilities.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Manage storage, maintenance, and checkout of production and animation equipment.
  • Assist students with software and hardware application, and serve as classroom aide as needed.
  • Process new equipment and monitor inventory.
  • Maintain studio and production facilities.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at NSU.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NSU does not sponsor employment-related visas).
  • Must exercise extreme diligence with materials and safety procedures.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and web mail and be able to work with databases.
  • Ability to present oneself professionally and interact with others in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, learn and apply procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to work and manage multiple duties, projects and assignments while meeting established deadlines.
  • Familiarity with digital cinema equipment and software.

Please note: Applicants must meet the posted minimum qualifications at the time of application in order to be considered for the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Experience with and knowledge of digital cinema equipment and software.
  • Completed basic Visual Media production courses.

Work Hours:

Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$11.25 per hour.
