Job Description

Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of Transfer Credit and Admissions Evaluator. The Transfer Credit and Admissions Evaluator will conduct official transcript evaluations from post-secondary institutions for the purpose of determining an applicant's admissibility to the college. The incumbent will evaluate transfer coursework for transfer credit eligibility, calculate transfer GPA, and post all transfer credits, including test credits, into PeopleSoft (Student Information System). The incumbent will also work closely with the Degree Audit & Curriculum Analyst and academic advisors regarding inquiries to transfer course equivalencies and their degree applicability.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Review, interpret and evaluate official transcripts for new, current, and returning transfer students; research transfer institution and its course information for transfer eligibility as well as determine course equivalency in collaboration with academic departments/schools.
  • Review, interpret and evaluate official test scores (AP, CLEP, IB, etc.) for new, current, and returning students
  • Post transfer coursework and test credit/non-traditional credit evaluations in PeopleSoft
  • Demonstrate careful and objective consideration of information to make admit decision of transfer applicants
  • Reference, retain, recall, and apply the NSC and the Nevada System of Higher Education policies and procedures as they relate to transfer credit evaluation and articulation to ensure student admission and data accuracy
  • Maintain awareness of changes in admission guidelines, transfer credit rules and system changes
  • Maintain knowledge of transfer agreements/partnerships between NSC and other institutions
  • Assist Records Analysts with updating and maintaining the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) and Transferology
  • Assist with Petitions for Curriculum Substitutions
  • Respond to emails and phone calls regarding transfer evaluation for admitted students
  • Assist with other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, providing support in other functional areas as needed and assisting with graduation ceremonies

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in Admissions or Records office
  • Demonstrates competency with computer applications and databases
  • Organized, detailed orientated, and a problem solver
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships through effective oral and written communication with team members, staff, students, faculty, and other community constituents
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision handling and prioritizing multiple tasks and maintaining accuracy between interruptions
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NSC does not sponsor employment-related visas)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of credit evaluation experience
  • Experience in PeopleSoft (Student Information System)
  • Working knowledge of FERPA

Some evenings and/or weekend hours and travel required.

Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary range for this position is $40,260. Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including 15.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
