Job Description

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Project SANDI Coordinator. This is a grant-funded, renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the NSHE Assistant Vice Chancellor for Workforce Development and Community Colleges. The position is located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant challenges and opportunities in serving over 100,000 students and 15,000 employees.

Job Description: The Project SANDI Coordinator is a fully grant-funded position that is instrumental in coordinating SANDI project activities and data reporting for NSHE's four community colleges. The incumbent serves as the first point of contact for and between the NSHE institutions and the Governor's Office of Workforce Innovation (GOWINN) for any matters related to the participation in SANDI grant, including program approval.

STARTING SALARY: C (Approximate starting salary range: $60,000 - $65,000 and is commensurate with education, experience, and training.) Benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life, and retirement benefits.

APPROXIMATE STARTING DATE: October 1, 2022

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with one year of grant reporting and/or coordination (or) associate degree with three years of progressively responsible grant reporting and/or coordination (or) five years of progressively responsible grant reporting and/or coordination.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Successful candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities. It is recommended that applicants for this position address each of the following items in the letter of application:
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and/or NSHE grant reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of institutional guidelines and state and system policies related to all aspects of the position
  • Knowledge of short-term training programs
  • General knowledge of higher education structure
  • Skilled in planning and managing projects
  • Skilled in preparing and maintaining accurate records
  • Skilled in standard computer applications and data analysis tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff and management
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to gather, collate, and/or classify data
  • Ability to train other employees
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures

RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to:
  • Technical Assistance - provides technical assistance to the four NSHE community colleges on grant-related activities, including program design and approval. Helps college staff troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Communications - serves as the point-of-contact between NSHE institutions, GOWINN, and other partner agencies. Regularly leads meetings for campus staff and attends statewide SANDI grant meetings to maintain lines of communication and to foster a high level of coordination of grant activities. Keeps SANDI catalog up to date.
  • Partnerships - facilitates partnerships between NSHE and its institutions, the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) and the Nevada State Library system on grant projects.
  • Reporting - coordinates gathering and reporting of grant data from NSHE institutions. Writes NSHE quarterly reports and collects institutional quarterly reports for submission to GOWINN grant administrator
  • Other Grant-Related Duties - adapts as necessary to respond to changing needs of grant and grant participants.
