Director, AI and Crypto Institute

Description

This position will be responsible for shaping the institute’s strategic direction, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and driving impactful research and educational initiatives in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and crypto currencies, including blockchain technology.

Examples of Duties

Establish the Institute in accordance with College regulations
Develop new programs of study and courses in AI, crypto currencies and blockchain technologies
Look for collaborations and funding with outside partners (for-profit and not for-profit organizations) to execute projects and grants for the benefit of the College
Actively seeking, coordinating and supervising internship opportunities for all qualified New College students, particularly those in the graduate Data Science program

Provide academic and research support and administrative direction for the Center.
Provide leadership in planning, developing, and implementing program procedures, and ensure that program policies and procedures are updated, as needed

Serve as a spokesperson for the Institute in the community and region, and to various external agencies, organizations, and the public
Provide leadership in budget management and resource development in the institute

The Director performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to attending New College training and professional programs such as required compliance training and safety training, as well as other programs that will assist them in the performance of their job responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Finance) with 6 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D in Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Finance, or a closely related field
10 years of practical experience in the financial industry, including at least 3 years as unit head, applying modern AI tools (machine and deep learning, natural language processing, blockchain) to financial products and derivatives.
