JOB SUMMARY:

The Video Engineer’s main duties are to handle all aspects of video recording/streaming for assigned events (concerts, rehearsals, recitals, conferences, masterclasses, and studio sessions), and to ensure the performance of daily tasks of RPTS, including training of our team of student workers.  Scheduling for this position is primarily event driven.  This individual reports to the Director of Recording and Performance Technology Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in single or multi-cam shoots of assigned events operating cameras, lighting, audio recording, etc., as required.

  • Maintain critical multi-cam editing workflow in Premiere Pro CC, editing content from approved production documents and ensuring the highest possible production and brand standards.

  • Assist with the design, installation and implementation of new technologies and services as the needs of the NEC community change.

  • Support all aspects of large-scale file layering projects for remote ensembles.

  • Maintain current systems.

  • Assist with the running of the RPTS office.

  • Mentor student engineers and train student workers for recording, streaming, basic tech support, and front office duties.

  • Maintain an extensive knowledge of professional video post-production practices, as well as current camera, audio, and lighting equipment and production techniques.

  • Work collaboratively and discreetly with students, faculty members, alumni, staff, and other stakeholders to take projects from conception to completion.

  • Assist with educating the NEC community as requested.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 years of practical experience creating video content and managing productions. Undergraduate degree in a related field preferred.

  • Experience with Tri-casters, PTZ cameras, multi-camera event coverage, NDI protocols, and live streaming.

  • Willingness to pass Dante level 1 certification.

  • Experience with DSLRs, Camcorders, and Mirrorless cameras as well as with lens, lighting techniques, audio recording for video, and camera support systems.

  • Fluency in Premiere Pro CC.  

  • Experience in Photoshop, After Effects, Motion, and/or other video/audio programs is an asset.

  • Willingness to stay current and learn new technologies as video production standards and techniques evolve.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and self-motivational skills. 

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously with great efficiency and unshakable attention to detail.

  • Willingness to accept criticism and direction, and to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Strong system troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and flexibility that allow for quality relations with a variety of constituencies. 

  • Evening and weekend work is required.
