New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. Responsible for one of the largest of the 57 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation’s donation system, NEDS works with about 200 hospitals and serves 14 million people in our region, screening nearly 50,000 potential donor referrals annually. With approximately $90M in operating revenues, NEDS employs 250 clinical and non-clinical staff members throughout New England.

Job Description

The Learning Design Manager coordinates and provides instructional design services to make the acquisition of skills more efficient, effective, and engaging for our Tissue Donation and Corporate Services and teams.  You’ll use your expertise to design learning that supports specific performance objectives, drives measurable impact, and leads to an engaged, enabled, and empowered workforce.

What You’ll Do:

  • Utilize expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design, and educational technologies to enhance the performance NEDS team members through the development of blended learning offerings and training materials.
  • Apply your knowledge across multiple development approaches to produce learning solutions and courses in a wide variety of formats including eLearning, virtual, classroom, simulations, job aids, videos, On-the-Job training, and assessments.
  • Consult and collaborate with SMEs on course design and development by gathering requirements from stakeholders, completing needs analysis, identifying resources needed, then developing training materials and solutions.
  • Partner with department leaders to create learning paths, courses, and training materials through innovative learning activities that align requirements, competencies, and knowledge gaps to produce desired behaviors and business results.
  • Guide content development teams and coach content authors and training personnel in instructional design and adult learning concepts.
  • Cultivate a collaborative learning culture and growth mindset by bringing team members and their ideas together to impact organizational performance and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Instructional/learning design, adult education/technology, human resource development or a related field preferred.
  • 3 years of experience with successful instructional design and web-based course development.  Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning theories, utilize iterative instructional design methodologies, and use an analytical approach toward developing learning solutions.
  • Should be able to provide samples of instructional design work or a portfolio.
  • Experience with content authoring tools (Articulate Suite) and creative design tools (Adobe Photoshop/Creative Suite). 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a strong focus on effective collaboration, developing and cultivating relationships, and finding common ground toward business needs and goals.
  • Excellent project management and problem solving skills to create structure around assignments, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a compressed timeframes.

This position is based out of Waltham, MA, however can work a hybrid schedule of in-office and remote, or fully remote.
