The School Board of the Rochester School Department (SAU #54) invites innovative and highly qualified candidates to apply for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

 

 

 

Rochester, with a population of 33,000 and an area of approximately 45.5 square miles, is located in the southeast seacoast region. It is a unique blend of prospering, dynamic, city and small-town New England traditions. Rochester is the fourth largest city in New Hampshire and offers excellent advantages to its residents including a wide variety of cultural, recreational, shopping and dining experiences and easy access to the lakes and mountains of the north and to the seacoast.

 

 

 

Residents actively support the Rochester School Department. Its FY24 operating budget is $72,793,706. The district educates 3,785 students in ten facilities:

 

  • Chamberlain Street School, Grades K-5 East Rochester School, Grades K-5 (also houses the REACH PreK program) Gonic School, Grades K-5 Maple Street Magnet School, Grades K-5 McClelland School, Grades K-5 School Street School, Grades K-4 William Allen School, Grades K-5 Rochester Middle School, Grades 6-8 Bud Carlson Academy, Grades 9-12 Spaulding High School, Grades 9-12 (also houses the Richard W. Creteau Regional Technology Center)

 

 

In addition, the city is in the active planning stage to develop a new K-5 school. The project ranks first on the state priority list.

  • Strong emphasis on personalized learning for all students Maple Street Magnet School has a strong focus on project-based learning Districtwide attention to future learning pathways Thriving athletic, performing arts, and other extracurricular programs Richard W. Creteau Technology Center houses seventeen programs and welcomes five sending schools in addition to Spaulding High School Students The district has an ongoing goal of prioritizing and supporting mental health and well-being for students and staff.
