About NGP and NGPAF:
New Georgia Project (NGP) is a non-partisan, 501c3 nonprofit organization formed to register the unregistered people of color in the state of Georgia. Our work is based in registering and advocating for Georgians of color (Black, Latinos, Asian-Americans) while engaging them in the democratic process and participating in collective actions around common issue areas. Those issue areas include voting rights, quality and affordable health care, economic justice, civil rights and more.
New Georgia Project Action Fund (NGPAF) is NGP’s non-partisan, 501c4 affiliate organization. It was formed to increase the civic participation of underrepresented and underserved communities of color. NGPAF does this by engaging in local and state political campaigns, in support of, or opposition to, ballot measures, referendums, recalls, initiatives and candidacies for local and state offices.
Position Summary:
NGP and NGPAF are vibrant, independent, fast-paced, non-partisan voter registration and civic organizations that have seen explosive growth in the last twelve months and are headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. NGP and NGPAF seek a passionate, energetic, and motivated professional that will join our Field department who are responsible for spreading voter awareness to minority communities throughout Georgia.
Canvassers are one of the most important positions we have, as our organization was built on direct voter contact. We are seeking a well-organized, self-starter for a full-time or part-time, temporary position as Canvasser. The Canvasser will report to their direct Office Manager.
The ideal candidate exemplifies a goal-orientated professional who is committed to all the issues we work on from voting rights to health care and everything in between and establishing everlasting relationships with who they interact with. Because our target communities and colleagues come from a wide range of backgrounds, applicants need to be able to thoughtfully navigate issues related to diversity, race, equity and inclusion, and bring a deep commitment to advancing these values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Canvassing local areas in an effort to register Georgians to vote;
- Knowing and following all of Georgia’s voter registration laws and adhering to those rules at all times;
- Ability to engage in thoughtful and respectful conversations with voters throughout Georgia. (nonpartisan of course!); and
- Record and regularly sync data from the day's shift into our database using your smartphone.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old;
- Comfortable walking or standing for extended periods of time;
- Comfortable working outside and in different weather conditions;
- Must have transportation to various work sites around your assigned office;
- Must have a working smartphone; and
- Willingness to collaborate with diverse teams, personalities and expectations.

They will understand how this role contributes to the overall mission, drawing inspiration for the position of Canvasser from the community. The Canvasser will be an inspiring and empathic individual of unquestioned integrity, ethics and values, treating others with respect. Additionally, this position has recurring work situations that involve having a high degree of discretion. The need for accuracy and effective utilization of accepted programs and routines is high.

Location: Albany, GA
- Primarily works outdoors in different weather conditions;
- Assures all visitor, partners and employees are applying to the COVID protocol (wearing mask, temperature checks, etc.).

- Frequently required to come within 6 feet of a person often during your shift.
