SCOPE OF WORK:

Under the CEO's supervision, this position is responsible for achieving our fundraising and communication goals through collaboration, strategy, planning, and execution. The individual in this key role will work closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board members, and directly supervise the Volunteer Coordinator and Communication & Development Specialist. The Director of Communication and Development will design and execute a campaign framework for ongoing financial support, directing activities related to securing grants/contributions from foundations, corporations, and individuals, and through events. The ideal candidate will be an innovative professional developing long range and strategic plans both for increasing institutional giving support and expanding New Hope's funding base. Strong candidates for this position will have a combination of development and communications skills, and a solid understanding of New Hope's work.

It is expected that the Director of Communication and Development will incorporate the practice and promotion of New Hope’s core values, which include respect, teamwork, empowerment, and professionalism.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Communication and Development will work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors, and supervise the Volunteer Coordinator and Communication & Development Specialist to create and implement a long-term development and communications plan to guide growth in resource development, in accordance with New Hope's strategic plan; these activities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Create and implement creative and comprehensive strategies to secure public and private funding for the range of services and programs in the 41 cities and towns where New Hope works to address and prevent sexual and domestic violence.
  • Help tell the story of this social justice-oriented organization by generating content, promoting the brand, and furthering its mission through the full range of communication channels.
  • Work with the CEO, the DEI and Community Impact Director, and other Senior Team members to develop grant programs and to complete and submit grant proposals to find current and new programming.
  • Guide and manage the grant and individual donor solicitation process (including writing proposals, reports, and grant summaries) in a timely manner, while ensuring compliance, accountability, and integrity.
  • Utilize Raiser’s Edge to plan, implement, maintain and evaluate fund development programs.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Board Fund Development Committee.
  • Serve as a proactive member of the Senior Leadership Team, helping to ensure alignment between program goals, financial realities and fundraising capacity.

COMMUNICATIONS:

  • Provide logistical and communications support for all special events, including managing the special events budgets.
  • Drive the organization's communications activities including media relations, maintenance and development of the organization's website, listservs, and social media, and the production of newsletters, annual reports, and other marketing materials.
  • Develop and implement a year-long fundraising and communications calendar that coordinates all printed and digital communications, including social media.
  • Coordinate the writing, design, preparation, and production of the organization's brochures, publications, and collateral materials.
  • Manage staff to create opportunities for community members to share their time, talents, and treasures to advance the goals of New Hope.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, Non-profit management, or related.
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, social media, development, and non-profit fundraising, and/or event planning.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency, ideally some experience working with Raiser’s Edge.
  • Bilingual, bi-cultural preferred.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, executing priorities efficiently and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively with other team members, managing multiple projects and priorities, and to interface effectively with people across New Hope's programs and externally.
  • Management and supervisory experience are a plus.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a valid MA driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel.
  • Must be committed to New Hope's mission and practice philosophies of ending violence and oppression, to using empowerment practices, and to promote social justice and social change.
  • Must complete New Hope's 35-hour domestic violence training within one year of hire.
  • CORI check required upon offer of hire.

Pay: $75,000.00 per year
