The Food Pantry Coordinator is responsible for the daily oversight and maintenance of the NHCC Emergency Food Pantry. These responsibilities include:
1. Adhering to agency policy, as well as policies from the town, county or other organizations whom provide support, donations, funding, etc.
2. Identify and establish new sources of food and/or financial donations with local resources and businesses; maintain current relationships with donors
3. Pick-up, shop, store and organize food from donation sources, stores, etc.
4. Facilitate referrals and pack food in a timely manner
5. Train and oversee volunteers and staff; maintain schedules of staff and volunteers to ensure coverage
6. Maintain cleanliness and order of Emergency Food Pantry in accordance to all policies
7. Participate in site inspections, maintain appropriate follow-up
8. Participate in required trainings as scheduled [i.e. food safety]
9. Prepare, maintain and report monthly statistics to appropriate entities within established timeframes
10. Maintain necessary records, including but not limited to personnel, extermination, temperature logs, inventory, client information
11. Abide by NYS Laws pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles
12. Use of one’s personal vehicle may be required; use of agency vehicle must adhere to agency guidelines
Mental and Physical Abilities Required
High School Diploma / GED
Valid driver’s license – this position involves travel throughout Nassau, Suffolk and Queens
Computer skills
Ability to bend, lift, and carry at least 50 pounds daily
Ability to read, write and communicate in English
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing and climbing
Ability to meet attendance requirements
Ability to work within the community
Ability to represent NHCC to the community in a professional manner adhering to our core values
Ability to gauge time needed to arrive at a destination
Ability to read maps and/or use a GPS
Computer skills necessary for record keeping
Ability to plan and coordinate the distribution of food and commodities to meet the needs of the program

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a normal office environment and/or outside, and work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long trips or traffic; pantry
