Maintenance

Facilities Maintenance is responsible for preforming all duties essential to the daily care, upkeep, and growth of the New Horizons facilities.

All New Horizons’ Staff are expected to study, practice and operate within the New Horizons’ Philosophy of Keeping Kids First.

Keeping Kids First requires that every decision and action be motivated by and geared toward meeting the highest need of the individual kid.

New Horizons will not tolerate anyone who is not committed to keeping kids safe from abuse, neglect and exploitation. At New Horizons, we Keep Kids First while providing a safe, therapeutic and loving environment for children and adolescents who have experienced immense trauma through abuse, neglect or exploitation.

Our Staff keep our children safe and provide a home-like environment for them to grow, heal and thrive. The Ranch, located near Goldthwaite, Texas provides individual, intensive inpatient treatment programs for boys and girls suffering from emotional, behavioral and attachment or relationship problems.

The Ranch sits on 150 acres and is home to 70 children, ages 6-17. The Ranch, has an on-campus accredited charter school, an equine therapy program, a swimming pool, playgrounds, campus lakes, football and baseball fields, a tennis court, an indoor gym, three homes and a chapel / activity center.

Located in Texas Hill Country in rural setting approximately two hours northwest of Austin in Goldthwaite, Texas. Successful candidate will be required to reside in or near the Brownwood or Goldthwaite area.

• We are looking for an individual who : Establishes respectful relationships while working in a maintenance environment; Works well independently and collaboratively with other personnel and professionals;
• Sets appropriate limits both in relationships and in personal work ethic; Embraces and embodies the Philosophy of New Horizons;
• Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills; Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to : Keeping Kids Safe! Following the New Horizons’ Employee Handbook;
• Be able to coordinate a schedule and prioritize a job list; Must be able to work within a set budget while performing quality workmanship;
• Attend staff meetings and seminars as needed to obtain the required number of hours for continuing education annually in addition test and qualify or any training connected to your duties;
• To recognize and initiate corrective action on any structure, grounds, or other properties that is needed and to follow all processes set forth;
• Maintain a safe work environment for staff, students and self; Responsible for assisting in the proper procedures, regulations and safety standards are met in regards to the sewage and water treatment plants as contracted by US Water and assist in its operations when requested;
• Responsible for ensuring that a comprehensive preventative maintenance program is in effect and adhered to in regards to all buildings, structures, roads, fences, equipment, and implements;

Be able to send and receive emails including updating leadership of project completion. Perform other duties as assigned by the New Horizons System Admin and Facility Director.

• Qualifications for Maintenance staff include : Experience not required but preferred, will train on the job; Applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age;
• Be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED); Must have a working knowledge and ability to execute general maintenance and scheduling of projects;
• Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to read and comprehend; Must have knowledge of general maintenance skills and willingness to gain new skills in applicable areas;
• Must have the ability to work with children; Must be able to perform CPR / First Aid when needed; Must be able to work in a mixed indoor and outdoor environment involving interaction with students and staff;
• Must be able and willing to work with power equipment; Must be a licensed and insured driver; Must be able to work flexible hours with a moderate level of discretion and judgment;

Must be capable of physically restraining a child or adolescent at times when they are a danger to their self or others, or have extensive prior experience which demonstrates their cognitive ability to control the child through alternate acceptable means.

Additional plumbing, electrical, and construction skill preferred but not required. New Horizons offers : A team environment focused on support, accountability and maintain a safe environment where we Keep Kids First;
