Position Summary:
We are seeking an eLearning Specialist who will
develop digital learning objects and related resources, including audio and
video components, which may include academic materials and self-paced learning
modules for the Office of Online Programs. This position would support
instructional design projects and quality standard initiatives.
Essential Functions:
● Consults with faculty on the use of
instructional technologies for activities such as assessments, presentations,
and learning management system (LMS) tools.
● Consults with instructional
designers and/or faculty on the planning, use, and development of self-paced
learning objects such as video quizzes, multimedia lectures, software
simulations, digital learning objects, and stand-alone eLearning training
modules.
● Assists with developing courses and
online learning content for various audiences per design plans/consultation
discussions in the LMS and/or using other course authoring tools (e.g.,
Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc.)
● Supports faculty and staff in the
application of technology to the curriculum.
● Advocates use of pedagogical
strategies and educational technologies to faculty and staff.
● Ensures compliance with established
accessibility (ADA/508/UDL) standards as well as university/division standards.
● Designs, develops, and delivers
training workshops to introduce faculty, TAs, and students to the emerging
instructional technologies and their effective application in teaching and
learning.
● Light video editing (e.g., trimming,
merging, adding title slides, and applying background music).
● Templating learning materials to improve programmatic
consistency and university branding.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
● Bachelor's Degree in Instructional
Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or related field.
● Two years of progressively
responsible experience in course design and development, faculty training, or
program/course assessment/evaluation required.
● Two years of experience developing interactive training
materials and learning objects using Adobe Creative Cloud or Articulate 360.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Master's Degree from a regionally
accredited college or university in Instructional Design, Instructional
Technology, Education, or related field.
● Five years’ experience working with an LMS.
● Thorough knowledge of online
instructional design, pedagogy/andragogy, emerging technology, and distance
learning best practices desirable.
● Knowledge of best practices for the
effective implementation of instructional technology tools in higher education.
● Familiarity with best practices in
the use and development of video in higher education distance learning,
including digital video editing tools.
● At the university's
discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where
the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an
equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the
candidate for success in the position.
