Case Manager / Legal Services Coordinator
Employment-focused non-profit agency for court-involved citizens currently seeking a Case Manager/ Legal Services Coordinator. The ideal candidate is a professional with a legal background, who is interested in helping court-involved citizens restore their lives in a holistic fashion. The candidate is expected to be a Case Manager first, and a Legal Services
Coordinator second. This is a full time position, Monday - Friday, with a full benefits package. Some weekend and night meetings/court appearances with attorney will be required.
The position reports directly to the Site Director and General Counsel. NJRC operates facilities statewide, and the candidate will be expected, at times, to travel to courts and other appointments around the state. The candidate will be trained in the relevant areas of law, including criminal, municipal court, and related administrative law.
Ability to learn and use Salesforce database system is essential; training will be provided.
Responsibilities: As a Case Manager, all clients will require non-legal social service navigation/case management, and some will require more advanced legal assistance which must be approved by General Counsel. The Case Manager/Legal Services Coordinator will lead and present multiple weekly group sessions to court-involved citizens, provide ongoing case
management/outreach to a large caseload, crisis intervention, community outreach and engagement, data entry, data evaluation and review. Ability to appear in municipal courts with attorney primarily in the Northern New Jersey area, and at times, Central and Southern New Jersey areas.
Required: Ability to learn and use the Salesforce system is an absolute requirement of this position. Knowledge of criminal justice issues or willingness to be taught by our team of lawyers; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. A strengths-based and trauma-informed approach is a must.
Preferred: Pre-law undergraduate degree; experience with the Salesforce system; direct experience with court-involved citizens; experience with program and process evaluation. Law school students and Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply. A paralegal certificate is a plus.
