Job Description:
We are offering individuals the ability to join us this summer either through our internship program as well as paid Support Staff for experienced applicants.
As a Support Staff team member specializing in early childhood education, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and educational environment for children ages 5 to 7. You will collaborate with our team to fine-tune an age-appropriate learning environment that meshes with our goals of spreading passion for our oceans! You will also be assisting our interns in developing key skills in education as they progress in their role.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with team members to ensure the safety and well-being of our youngest campers, while also providing support and guidance as needed.
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where children feel encouraged to ask questions, make observations, and express their ideas.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on experiments, basic scientific sampling, nature walks, storytelling, and creative arts, to cater to different learning styles and interests.
Incorporate principles of sustainability and environmental stewardship into daily activities and routines, helping children develop a deeper understanding of their connection to the natural world.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting, preferably in a camp or outdoor education environment.
Strong knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Environmental Education, or a related field.
Passion for environmental science and a commitment to inspiring a love for nature in young children.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
