Special Education Coordinator
The Special Education Coordinator collaborates with Special Education teachers, educational
assistants, service providers, IEP teams, the principals, and the Special Education Director to
cultivate and sustain a culture of learning that meets the diverse needs of students, staff, and
families. The Special Education Coordinator is responsible for due process monitoring; leading,
facilitating, coaching, and supervising Special Education personnel and programs; developing
effective parent, teacher, and student communications; supporting, mentoring, staff; and
fostering teamwork between teachers, staff, and parents. Reports to the Director of Special
Education.
Due Process:
? Monitor and guide due process procedures for all areas of special education.
? Review all due process documents for compliance
? Conduct and facilitate meetings for special education staff regularly.
? Act as Administrative Designee for due process meetings.
? Conduct parent and student meetings/listen and respond to parent concerns with sensitivity
? Maintain data tracking for due process timelines.
? Ensure all timelines are in compliance.
? Actively participate in child find processes.
Staff:
? Daily supervision of all special education programs and staff (licensed and educational
assistants)
? Conduct interview teams for special education
? Monitor and maintain staff schedules
? Place and monitor subs.
? Assist in the orientation of new Special Education staff members and the professional development of all staff
Building Support:
? Participate in the Student Assistance Team as a special education consultant
? Participate in the Academic Leadership Team as needed
? Collaborate with all departments
? Attend all building meetings
