What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Brewer position at New Oberpfalz Brewing?
We are hiring a LEAD BREWER to manage and execute production of our award-winning beers. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of successful experience working at a brewery, with extensive knowledge in all facets of beer production.
Candidates should possess the following skills/attributes:
- operational knowledge of instrumentation including dissolved oxygen, liquid density, carbonation, and temperature sensors, and familiarity with maintenance and calibration of those instruments.
- familiarity with beer recipe production software (beersmith/beertools, etc)
- firm understanding of ingredient attributes and recipe formulation
- yeast counting, pitch rate calculation, and viability/vitality observations of yeast culture samples (titration/hemocytometer/microscope)
- ability to work long hours in a brewery environment
- administrative skills to track taxable volumes, compile raw materials orders, and perform inventory of various materials of finished and unfinished goods
- cleaning and sanitation of production area including tanks, tools, and equipment using established SOP's.
- packaging machine operation and maintenance (bottling line) and kegging of beer
- ability to lift/manipulate 160lbs (half-barrel kegs) onto pallets and into storage including pallet jack operation
- formulate new and innovative recipes and execute the brewing of established recipes to specification
- ability to train/mentor/manage other employees and continue a tradition of quality
- ability to communicate effectively with other brewery personnel in order to ensure stock levels and inventory need are met

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
