What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinician I or II - School Based/Outpatient position at New River Valley Community Services?
OVERVIEW
The Clinician I or II, provides clinical, assessment/evaluation, and consultation services to children and adolescents in the local school systems who with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or developmental disabilities. Provides counseling, therapy, crisis intervention, assessment and psycho-educational services to clients in the school setting and clinical support to other program staff as needed. Develops and maintains working relationships with individuals served, their families and/or caregivers, other NRVCS programs, local schools, and other community agencies and resources as needed to ensure quality services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Clinician I:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other license eligible human services field is required.
- Required to register and become licensed-eligible with the Virginia Board of Counseling upon hire. If licensed, must be credentialed with insurance companies to meet billing requirements.
- At least one year of clinical experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license (state of Virginia, unless otherwise approved by the agency) with an acceptable driving record. Must maintain acceptable record throughout employment.
Clinician II:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other license-eligible human services field is required.
- State of Virginia professional licensure is required in Psychology, Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy.
- At least one year of clinical experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license (state of Virginia, unless otherwise approved by the agency) with an acceptable driving record. Must maintain acceptable record throughout employment.
