New Virginia Majority is currently seeking a Prince William County Coordinator to lead integrated local work across Prince William County.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and consult with Tenants and Workers United (TWU) Organizers and Political staff in PWC.
- Lead a process to develop a Working People's Agenda for PWC County. This will be done in an iterative manner with members, allies, social media / digital contacts, and volunteers and identified supporters from the Political team.
- Build new and maintain existing relationships with allies and alliances within civic, labor, and religious organizations.
- Mobilize members, staff and volunteers to support voter education.
- Mobilize members, staff and volunteers to support ‘issue campaign’ mobilization.
- Support planning and facilitation of key events like cross trainings, voter outreach, and other events from political team or organizing team as needed
- Act as spokesperson and representative for New Virginia Majority on governmental matters with elected officials, their staff, and administrative agencies.
- Creating and maintaining a system to track news and developments related to city council & school boards.
- Work with comms and digital to develop and leverage messaging around Working People’s Agenda
Qualifications:
- At least 1-3 years of state or federal legislative experience.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Flexibility, adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Excellent communication skills in person, in writing and by telephone and by email, demonstrating professionalism, courtesy, and respect to a variety of audiences.
- Completes assignments in a timely manner, and appropriately evaluates own progress toward completion of work goals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team (including with remote staff).
- Self-motivated and self-disciplined.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and information when requested.
Compensation and Benefits:
This position is full-time based in our Chantilly office. Salary range is $62,000-$67,000, commensurate with experience. New Virginia Majority provides excellent benefits, including health, vision, and dental and monthly phone and transportation allowances.
NVM covers 100% of the individual cost and 75% of the family cost for medical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance for full time employees. Additional benefits include family and medical leave, retirement program with employer match, accruable paid vacation and sick leave, and monthly transportation and cell phone allowances.
