Salary up to $90,000 for experienced, qualified candidate.
The primary role of the Service Director is to oversee all shop operations in all New York Bus Sales facilities. Establishes adequate customer service policies and ensures employees abide by these policies when performing tasks and dealing with customers. Responsible for monitoring new vehicle deliveries, all scheduled repair work, and service records on assigned vehicles, holding teams accountable to following all safety procedures, ensuring customer satisfaction, and facilitating staff development.
SUPERVISION
The Service Director establishes procedures and evaluates key metrics to gauge the quality of customer service within the limits established by guidelines, attaining specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work for multiple locations. Only the final results of work done are typically reviewed.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·Monitor and assist in planning, scheduling, and forecasting work.
- Manage costs, overhead, and all factors affecting the profitable performance of the shop.
- Manage upkeep and condition of all equipment and fixtures on shop premises.
- Assist in development of customer retention programs.
- Work to help implement training sessions for both company and customer technicians.
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of assigned staff according to company policies and ensure relevant HR procedures are followed (appraisals, discipline, etc.).
· Work with the Parts Managers to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
· Partner with HR in managing hours worked and maintaining compliance with labor laws.
· Hold supervisors accountable to ensure accuracy in timecards and adjust schedules to meet business needs.
· Foster a positive and engaged work culture at all locations.
· Resolve customer issues immediately and according to dealership guidelines.
· Ensure assigned staff adheres to all company policies and procedures including safety requirements.
· Understand and keep abreast of and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect shop operations.
OTHER DUTIES

Requirements
EDUCATION / REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Minimum of 5 years management experience in a shop environment.
- Management of a school bus shop a plus.
- NYS CDL, Class B driver license with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Obtain and understand, technical information, sufficient knowledge to identify, document and correct any service issue
- Ability to move throughout all facilities to observe job performance.
- Exhibit good organizational skills and detailed record keeping (attention to detail is critical)
- Plan and meet reporting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, accomplishing the goals of the position.
- Demonstrate the ability to accomplish multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on any vehicle used is required.
