The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture and Entertainment – with signature wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 220 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.
The New York Post is seeking a seasoned PT News Editor who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This role consists of a full shift on Sunday, with the possibility of providing extra coverage as needed.
Requirements:
- Juggle multiple stories and reporters with of-the-moment deadlines
- Vet, assign, and edit major news stories on a range of topics
- Spot potentially viral stories from any corner of the globe and coordinate with newsroom personnel to best tell the story
- Strong news judgment
- Deep experience using social media platforms for news gathering purposes; think digital first
- Experience with SEO
- Adherence to the Post’s signature style
- Be eager to collaborate with personnel across the newsroom
- At least 5 years experience in a breaking news environment or nationally-focused newsroom; leadership experience preferred
- Newspaper experience preferred
