What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academy Coach position at New York Red Bulls?
The New York Red Bulls are one of 28 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. RBA, a state-of-the-art 25,000-seat stadium, is widely regarded as the top soccer-specific stadium in North America. The club is owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.
TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Work with Academy Director to Create/evolve U13 Academy Annual Performance Plan that includes the Technical, Tactical & Physical periodization for the U13 Academy.
- Plan and prepare for all training sessions (send session plan to team each day) matches (send game plan to team prior to every game) and select the U13 Academy team for each game following informal conversations with the Academy Director.
- Ensure all U13 Academy players are informed of details regarding training sessions, matches and their general working program and that they act in a manner befitting the Club Player Code of Conduct.
- Contribute to discussions led by the Academy Director of players to be retained and released at the end of the season or when deemed appropriate.
PLAYER MANAGEMENT
- Create & implement Individual Development Plans for Top Prospects on U13 Academy.
- Complete monthly progress reports for all U13 Academy players and distribute after the last game of each
- Month during the season.
- Schedule Individual meetings with all U13 Academy players (one parent must be present) three times per year (Sep & Feb) to discuss player progress and set expectations for remainder of season
STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT
- Work alongside the Recruitment team to review and report on the performances of potential targets for consideration for the Academy.
- Consistent philosophies in keeping with examples of best practice with RB Group
CONTINUAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Work towards designated SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timed) targets for personal development and departmental progression (Via ASANA).
- Keep a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which highlights areas for development and allows us to afford you the time and resources to work towards these objectives wherever possible.
- Take responsibility for your own continued professional development, ensuring that you attend regular courses/conferences and keeping an up-to-date portfolio of achievements. Appropriate funding will be available for courses / conferences – this is to be assessed on a case-by-case basis and will be linked to your Personal Development Plan / SMART Targets.
- Where required, complete the mandatory qualifications and relevant Continued Professional Development requirements as required by associated governing bodies.
- Undertake self-development to ensure knowledge in relation to all aspect of coaching and coach development is up to date and forward thinking.
- Build relationships throughout the Academy & broader club community.
- Responsibility for welfare of players – Child Protection
- Maintain/enhance football and cross sport coaching competence.
Experience in player development from youth to USL Championship and/or the MLS Professional level.
Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team in a professional sporting environment.
USSF “B” Youth License or UEFA equivalent
A minimum of 5 Years' experience in the elite sports setting
