ob Description:
We are urgently seeking a qualified measurement & verification specialist to support commercial and industrial energy efficiency and demand management programs in New York. This role is a backfill position, and the selected candidate will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of M&V plans, the deployment and retrieval of metering equipment, energy analysis, site inspections, technical writing, and project management.
The candidate will work collaboratively with the Advanced Energy team and clients to promote energy efficiency across the Northeast, tackling a diverse range of projects within commercial and industrial energy systems. Significant client interaction and travel around New York City (including the five boroughs and Westchester) will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage energy efficiency and demand management projects.
Develop and execute a variety of energy-saving calculations, strategies, and projects.
Perform preliminary desk reviews and analyses.
Develop project-specific M&V plans, including sampling approaches and safety requirements.
Review M&V plans to verify costs, approaches, and savings confidence.
Conduct pre-installation inspections to collect data and perform functional testing.
Install and remove metering and data collection equipment.
Collect and analyze data from a facility’s building automation system.
Analyze M&V data to develop trends, confirm savings projections, establish baseline conditions, and/or establish proposed conditions.
Develop technical reports summarizing project scope, methodologies, M&V activities, results, key assumptions, and recommendations.
Keep managers informed about project schedules and progress, providing regular time charging and budget updates as requested.
Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and quality control for calculations.
Stay informed about energy issues and industry trends through regular technical reading and participation in professional organizations.
Assist in the development and implementation of technical protocols, quality assurance procedures, and technical requirements for energy efficiency programs.
Assist in the development and implementation of M&V guidelines for common measure types for energy efficiency programs.
Communicate with contractors and program administrators regarding program requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of measurement and verification techniques and the ability to apply IPMVP based on project scope and goals.
Strong understanding of safety practices required to perform on-site M&V.
Knowledge of building systems commissioning, HVAC design, energy efficiency technologies, green building, and high-performance design.
Experience in the energy field, such as energy efficiency, distributed energy generation/combined heat and power, project economics/rate analysis, project design, renewable energy, HVAC, central heating, and cooling plants.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Team-oriented, hands-on, highly skilled, adaptive, and client-focused.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with M&V methods and experience deploying equipment and analyzing M&V data to develop trends, confirm project savings, and establish baseline/proposed conditions.
CMVP (or equivalent) accreditation is preferred.
PE accreditation is a plus.
Experience:
A minimum of 3–10 years of experience in green building, energy efficiency, building science, or a related field.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or energy). Other engineering disciplines will be considered.
Additional Requirements:
Local to New York City, NY (including 5 boroughs and Westchester).
Willing to travel 1-2 days a week, depending on project volume.
25% onsite work and 75% remote work.
