Job Description
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Primary Function and Scope:
Support existing equipment and assembly projects as needed.
Fits and assembles components to build one of a kind special purpose machines and equipment by performing, but not limited to, the duties listed below.
Set up and fabricate minor detail work on conventional and numerical control machines.
Travel to customer sites for install, warranty and service projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Fits and assembles parts into complete assemblies, following assembly blue prints as required.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment of completed assemblies, as required.
- Installs machined replacement parts, mechanisms, machines and equipment per assembly blueprints.
- Lay out hole locations, drills and taps holes on parts for assembly.
- Tests operation of unit by hand to ensure functionality and performance.
- Aids with machine debug, including but not limited to;
- Set up and align sensors (prox. switches, photo eyes, hall-effect sensors)
- Modify tooling as needed to eliminate interferences.
- Operate machine during early debug.
- Assemble customer parts, as needed, for debug or troubleshooting.
Duties & Responsibilities when required, in support of the build process:
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides for subsequent machining.
- Selects, aligns and secures fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
- Must be able to perform a series of machining operations on metal work pieces such as A2, 4140PH, O-1, S.S., 1018, Aluminum, etc.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media, as required.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
- Keeps work area clean.
- Willing and able to work overtime including weekends.
- Observe safety procedures including but not limited to wearing proper hearing and vision protection with side shields and sturdy footwear.
- Any other task assigned by management within scope of position, federal and state regulations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School degree or GED with 4 years work experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Background as machinist or toolmaker with a mechanical aptitude a must.
