Position Summary
Supervise facilities and operations for Tisch School of the Art's Undergraduate Drama Scene Shop. Advise students and staff regarding aspects of theater production. Oversee and perform work in support of department productions. Provide technical and creative assistance and expertise. Evaluate and assign scenic projects to student staff/crew; construct scenic elements and properties as necessary; maintain schedule for production-based goals as determined by Technical Director, and evaluate progress. Facilitate technical development and competence of student staff in use of equipment, scenic construction, troubleshooting and repair methods. Establish and enforce appropriate safety procedures.
Qualifications
Required Education:Bachelor's degree and
Preferred Education:Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Completion of a scenic construction/technical training program.
Required Experience:2 years' relevant experience including solid experience with scenic construction, shop operation, maintenance of theatre production facilities, staff supervision, and budget administration or an equivalent combination. Experience working with directors and designers.
Preferred Experience:Professional shop management experience
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Theatrical carpentry and crafts, proficiency with AutoCAD and VectorWorks software, basic accounting experience.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Professional member of United Scenic Artists or International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $59,797.16 to USD $73,085.40. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
