PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: COORDINATION OF GUIDANCE ACTIVITIESOrganize, manage, supervise, and evaluate effective and clear programmatic procedures for the operation and functioning of Counseling Services consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the school and District. This role includes counseling services for educational, college and career planning, social-emotional development, and coordination of specialized services for students. Compiles, regularly updates, and disseminates in accordance with district procedures a comprehensive description of 9-12 Guidance Program including policies, procedures, and other components.Works closely with the high school principals in the design and implementation of the schedule utilizing Aspen X2.Maintains own knowledge of the instructional and extracurricular programs of the district and utilizes this information in working with staff, students, parents, and others to enable students to obtain maximum benefit from their school experience.Works collaboratively with the College and Career Counselor to information with students and families about post-high school opportunities through mini-college fairs, individual appointments, printed documents, and audio-visual materials. Plan and carry out and effective program of school counseling in which counselors provide service to all students; including but not limited to: general education students, disaffected and students considered to be at risk, those identified as English Language Learners (ELL), and , students making the transition from eighth to ninth grade.

Oversees the application process (for post-high school education, armed services, etc.) and ensures timely submission of high quality documents.Oversees the registration of new students and transfer students. Supervises the processing of transcript requests for former students.Provide oversight and implementation of Section 504 procedures for students.Conducts regular meetings for counselors.Develop budget recommendations and furnish these to the Principal. Ensures that appropriate records are maintained by counselors to track student progress, note counseling service provided When appropriate, counsel individual students, including those requiring crisis intervention, to resolve educational, personal, emotional, and social needs and other areas of concern identified by the counselor, student, parents, teachers, administrators, or Student Support Team members.Conduct exit surveys of students who graduate or leave school to gather data about their experiences in school. Analyze and share the data with the appropriate professional staff.

PERSONNEL ADMINSTRATIONParticipates in the process to recruit, screen, interview, and recommend new counselors for the district.Evaluates guidance staff, counselors, and office personnel in accordance with state law, and contractual agreements.STAFF DEVELOPMENTFacilitates the participation of the guidance staff in professional development experiences to enhance their job-related knowledge and skills.Conducts in-service training for district programs as required.SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY RELATIONSPromotes on-going, two-way communications with students, school personnel, parents and others to enhance the guidance services program and the school district.Oversees dissemination of guidance-related literature and publications (i.e. School Profile).Participates in administrative and curricula meetings for administrators, supervisors, and instructional leaders.Participates in relevant administrative meetings conducted by the Superintendent. Establish effective liaison with the various offices and agencies within the community that may provide specialized or professional help to students and their parents.Establish effective working relationships with other institutions of Higher Education or Post-Secondary options that may be of use to students, parents, and teachers.PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTContinues own professional growth and development through memberships, attendance at relevant meetings, workshops, and conferences, enrollment in advances courses, and other similar activities.Keeps up-to-date with changes and developments in the profession by attending professional workshops and meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and participating in other experiences. Represents the district at relevant local, county, and state guidance meetings.OTHEROversees and coordinates AP testing as well as Gr.
