What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at Newell Brands?
Job Summary:
The planner will develop the schedule for the production of finished goods or the time phased delivery schedule of raw materials, to establish the sequence and/or lead time of each operation to meet customer demand. This resource will also be the planning project manager for new introductions, ensuring clear communication to the planning group on new launches, tracking latest plans vs committed dates, and calling out risk for each project into the S&Op process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage new introduction plans for the planning group, and interface with GKM team and planners. Manage communication of new launches into planning team as a one point of contact.
- Prepare daily and/or weekly production/purchase schedules including third party outside processing providers
- Work with manufacturing management in planning and executing production schedules to minimize cost of goods sold; delivers agreed upon objectives, completes special projects, develops capabilities and functionalities. (Overall equipment effectiveness, shrink, scrap and obsolescence, economic run lengths/quantities, scrap reduction, and lean practices in a continuous improvement environment.)
- Determine raw materials and/or finished goods demand to meet the weekly production/shipment schedule.
- Execute purchasing process to place orders with authorized vendors. Maintain purchase order status through direct contact with vendors and utilizing internal systems and resolve issues.
- Work with supply chain, finance, and business unit personnel in the areas of discontinued products and leftover raw materials and inventory obsolescence and write-offs.
- Assist in the analysis and development of long term production, purchase, capacity and labor plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and 2- 5 previous years of planning experience preferred
- APICS Certification preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical skills required, and previous experience with ERP systems strongly preferred.
- Problem solving and organizational skills are essential.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. With a demonstrated strong ability to relate well to others (internal and suppliers) using communication, interpersonal, diplomacy, leadership and related skills.
- Demonstrated strength in performing work in a fast-paced environment.
