What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cash Register Clerk position at Newhall Hardware?
We are looking for a Cash Register Clerk to join our Hardware Store! At Newhall Hardware we pride ourselves on creating a family-oriented workplace environment that is focused on customer service and working efficiently.
Focus on Customer Service:
a. Politely greet customers as you encounter them throughout the store and thank customers as they are leaving for shopping at Newhall Hardware.
b. Help customers by actively engaging and facilitating their needs.
c. Have a positive and outgoing attitude that works well with customers and fellow employees.
d. Make your supervisor aware of any/all customer complaints that you are unable to handle as you encounter them.
e. Have a strong understanding of the layout of the store, product location, product knowledge.
f. Possess the wherewithal to avoid giving customers misinformation and simply call upon your fellow staff members to come to your aid when you do not have the answer.
Essential Duties
1. Conducting yourself in a professional manner as it relates to your attitude, actions, and appearance.
2. Assist with the general cleanliness and orderliness of the store as it pertains to the showroom floor, receiving areas, lunch rooms, restrooms, etc. for a safe and professional environment for all.
3. Communicate with fellow employees using our radio headset system.
4. Facilitate putting out pricing, signage and products for various promotional sales throughout the year.
5. Scan the store and be actively aware that pricing of product is accurate and displayed properly.
6. Assist with putting out price adjustments on a weekly basis.
7. Help customers with Special Orders. If there is something that they need, that we do not stock we will order the item if available in one of our distribution centers.
8. Communicate sales ideas, cost issues, and merchandising issues as you encounter them to your manager.
9. Effectively conduct sales of merchandise without errors while making sure the customer found everything they need.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in customer service and operating a computer operated Point of Sale.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive demeanor towards both fellow employees and customers.
- Physical demands of the job include: Standing, Walking, Lifting, Climbing
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
