JOB SUMMARY:
Newport Classical is seeking a full-time Business Manager to oversee the daily accounting operations and ensure the financial objectives of the organization are met. This includes daily bookkeeping and monthly financial reporting in accordance with the organization’s budget and coordinating the annual audit report and tax filings. The Business Manager is also responsible for day-to-day operations related to human resources including payroll and staff on-boarding, annual government compliance, and office administration.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accurately manage the finance activities including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and reconciliations. Manage the financial books and accounting records, invoice processing, deposit processing, and reconciliation in a timely manner. Create monthly reports and disclose any material budget variance to the Executive Director. Create accurate quarterly cash flow projections to account for financial seasonality of expenses. Percent of Time Spent on Achieving Results: 45%
Create monthly financial reports for review by Executive Director and Treasurer. Use QuickBooks to create routine financial reports including Budget vs. Actuals, Comparative Balance Sheet, Comparative Statement of Cash Flows, and Cash Flow Projection, and ad hoc reports as requested. Monthly reports to be delivered to Executive Director by the 10th of the month. Also responsible for serving as main point of contact on the annual audit and submission of tax filings and other annual reports. Percent of Time Spent on Achieving Results: 25%
Collaborate with Executive Director on annual budget plan preparation and execution. Percent of Time Spent on Achieving Results: 5%
Oversee all Human Resources functions for NC. Manage employee benefits including plan design, budgeting, maintenance, and communications. Working with Executive Director, oversee employee recruitment, retention, and development and, when necessary, employee termination processes. Responsible for all employee on-boarding including contract employees and consultants. Percent of Time Spent on Achieving Results: 15%
Oversee general office operations. Ensures compliance with government regulations and company policies across the entire company, including implementing risk management and safety guidelines. Review and procure necessary insurance. General office management including ordering of office supplies, collecting mail from PO box, answering phones and other administrative duties as needed. Percent of Time Spent on Achieving Results: 10%

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business-related field with a focus in Accounting
- CPA or master’s degree a plus
- 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Business Manager
- Knowledge and experience in GAAP and accounting theory
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience in Compliance Management following applicable laws & regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, facility with spreadsheet development and database management, and the use of QuickBooks
- Disposition for working well on a team and dealing fluently with a wide variety of colleagues
- Ability to lead with a high degree of emotional intelligence and ethics
- Working knowledge of the performing arts and an interest or background in multiple arts genres a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Valid state-issued Driver’s License
- Willingness to commute Newport, RI as needed
