Job Title: Commercial Service Technician

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Service Technician to join our team. The Commercial Service Technician will be responsible for conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting technical issues, and performing maintenance and repairs on commercial solar systems. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, a thorough knowledge of solar installation and operational practices, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance activities on commercial and residential solar systems to ensure peak performance and uptime.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical issues affecting solar system functionality, including electrical, mechanical, and performance-related issues.
- Perform repairs and component replacements as necessary to address identified issues and restore system functionality.
- Regularly troubleshoot and repair/replace string inverters, micro inverters, optimizers, rapid shut down devices, breakers, modules, combiner boxes, stringing issues, penetration seals/flashing, monitoring equipment, internet connectivity issues, etc.
- Complete multi-site work orders in a timely manner and on a daily basis.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies while performing maintenance and repair activities.
- Document all maintenance and repair tasks accurately and maintain organized records of equipment inventory, inspection findings, repair recommendations, and materials needed.
- Effectively communication and remote troubleshoot system issues with equipment manufacturers.
- Regularly work with project managers, project coordinators, subcontractors, and manufacturers to plan and execute major system repairs.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in solar energy.
- Assist as part of an installation crew as needed.
- Perform other tasks and duties as needed.
Qualification Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant vocational training preferred.
- 3 years of combined solar installation and service experience required.
- Electrical certification or active ET card, a plus
- Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of residential and commercial solar PV systems.
- Comfortable working safely on live electrical equipment.
- Ability to efficiently switch from one task to another.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, including wiring diagrams, schematics, operating conditions, and equipment specifications.
- Ability to work independently and solely identify technical issues and repair requirements.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards governing solar energy systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
