Role Description – Preconstruction Manager
As a Preconstruction Manager with Newport Renewables, you will be responsible for appropriately evaluating the cost of a project, including NPTRE’s cost to take a project. You will be part of a growing team of enthusiastic and hard-working professionals, in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. NPTRE is seeking an individual with a professional demeanor who is detail oriented, with solid organizational and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to multitask.
Responsibilities
- Develop bid scope and vet subcontractors to ensure compliance with scope (utilizing knowledge of NTPRE’s competitive advantages in the industry), distribute bid packages, review and evaluate bids and manage project buyout and formalize subcontractors;
- Visit jobsites to review conditions;
- Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships and communication with clients, project team, consultants/architect/engineers, subcontractors, and other third parties;
- Review all project documents for completeness and accuracy and ensure accuracy of cost data;
- Responsible for creation, review and execution of all subcontracts and purchase orders;
- Prepare takeoffs and budgets in collaboration with Principal, build material libraries to create long-term efficiencies;
- Develop construction schedule and plan site logistics with input from field;
- Conduct team meetings, architect meetings and budget reviews;
- Present job cost, scheduling updates and budget updates for management review at regular intervals;
- Other related duties as assigned or needed
Required Qualifications
- Degree in construction management or related field from a 4-year accredited college or university;
- 0-3 years of related professional experience in the construction industry;
- Proficiency with on-screen takeoff software and Microsoft Excel;
- High level of fluency reading plans, specifications, and related project documents;
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong basic mathematical and quantitative skills;
- Detail oriented, thorough, excellent organization and project management skills;
- Ability to multitask and work on several projects at the same time;
- A desire to exceed industry standards and constantly improve;
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
Compensation and Benefits
Newport Renewables is offering a competitive salary for this position based on the applicant’s experience, and is offering a monthly health insurance contribution (medical, dental and vision) and paid vacation, sick days and holidays.
Location
Newport Renewables is currently located in Wakefield, Rhode Island. This will be a full time, in-person position at our office, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
