Summary:

The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for supporting the Athletic Director in administering the athletics program of the High School under the Newton Public School District.
The Assistant Athletic Director is appointed by the Principal, in conjunction with the Athletic Director, works indirectly under the Superintendent, and in compliance with policies of the School Committee, State Laws and regulations of the M.I.A.A.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred, or comparable years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of MIAA and DCL regulations
- Experience with athletics scheduling software
- Experience coaching within a school setting

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):
|
- In the absence of the Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director will perform the duties of the Athletic Director as defined in the job description for the Athletic Director.
- The AAD will help to provide an administrative presence at athletic events (games, practices, camps, and competitions), both on weekdays and on weekends.
- The AAD will coordinate Middle School sport schedules, contacting assignors and transportation.
- The AAD will supervise the Equipment Managers, and make sure they maintain an accurate inventory of all uniforms and equipment while managing their distribution and return.
- The AAD will assist the Athletic Director with Arbiter software scheduling imputing the team schedules.
- The AAD will coordinate game officials using the ArbiterSports site and collect officials’ vouchers after each game.
- The AAD will prepare a transportation schedule for the season and coordinate it daily with the Administrative Assistant, sending schedules to the bus company each season.
- The AAD will coordinate the games’ workers and assign responsibilities for them.
- The AAD will coordinate the Athletic Department’s use of the Athletic Department’s X , Instagram accounts and website to inform athletes and their parents of schedules, scores and updates.
- The AAD will maintain an awareness of and ensure compliance with all MIAA regulations and deadlines. He or she will be responsible for preparing the eligibility lists with the Admin Assistant.
- The AAD will work with the Athletic Director to schedule all athletic facilities including the fields, the gym and the field house and avoid conflicts.
- The AAD will promote and continue to work with daily operation of the athletic department including tickets sales and fundraising events.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by Principal or Superintendent

Work Environment:
- Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for afterschool meetings (ex: Back to School Night). Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Rarely absent or late unless the situation is of an emergency nature.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, handle, operate and control all Culinary equipment and supplies
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building
- Ability to travel locally in order to acquire supplies (must possess valid driver’s license)
