We are currently looking for a Shipping and Receiving Technician who will be responsible for monitoring the movement of inventory within the laboratory, receiving new materials, and shipping materials. Success in this position is vital to maintaining an accurate and navigable inventory of laboratory materials.

Your main responsibilities
- Receive materials and accurately place in inventory using web-based accounting and inventory software
- Examine materials received to ensure quality and compliance and return damaged or errantly sent items in timely manner if needed
- Maintain organization within all inventoried locations ensuring optimal utilization of space
- Perform period counts of inventoried material
- Communicate with laboratory, accounting, and vendors regarding the status of incoming materials
- Remove and dispose expired materials
What we are looking for
- Working knowledge of centralized inventory control, and requires the basic knowledge of inventory and project planning, material planning, and related inventory systems
- Basic knowledge of buying and ordering procedures, and knowledge of computer systems that support production, e.g., inventory control, purchasing, and project scheduling
- Language and writing skills to prepare reports and procedure descriptions
- Math skills to compute sums, products, and prepare estimates and sequences
- Ability to train others and work cooperatively with all levels of staff
- Requires the ability to solve urgent problems associated with availability of products and components
- Requires the ability to perform accurate accounting of, and to document inventory levels
- Ability to negotiate changes with vendors and manufacturing teams
- Requires sufficient ambulatory ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time; to stoop, bend, and reach on an intermittent basis
- Requires the ability to lift lightweight objects (under 20 pounds) on an intermittent basis
- Requires near visual acuity to recognize moving objects in a manufacturing environment, inspect parts and materials, and read small numbers and letters
- High School diploma, and 1 years in material handling, inventory control.
