About the Open Position

GHSP, a global technology organization, is currently looking for an Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Headquarters team in Holland, Michigan. The scope of this role is connected to the automotive division of our business, specifically working with Trailer Brakes. Remote work options available.

Purpose of the Job:

Provide design, development, and analysis capabilities for hardware development. You will engage with technology partners to drive innovation with a focus on performance, power, integration, and cost. In this position you will lead the process of defining technical requirements that drive the product roadmap. You will be working closely with software, operations, program management, product marketing, and executive management team and will have the opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of cutting edge products used every day, by people you know.

Valuable Job Functions:

• Architects and designs hardware solutions.
  • Architects and designs hardware solutions by analyzing the performance and feasibility of alternative hardware concepts using circuit theory, simulations, and mathematical models.
• Assists with other engineering disciplines.
  • Assists project team members in other engineering disciplines in the development of hardware subsystems and interfaces as required.
• Assists in developing proposals.
  • Assists engineering management in developing proposals for new technical programs which will lead to new or improved products.
• Technical specialist.
  • Be regarded as an engineer with significant breadth and a technical specialist.
• Delivers prototype hardware.
  • Delivers prototype hardware to customers by implementing physical hardware designs by selecting components, capturing schematics, and supervising PCB layouts.
• Proficiency with lab equipment and debug techniques.
  • Demonstrates proficiency using lab equipment and debug techniques to ensure products meet design requirements.
• Maintains focus on customer requirements.
  • Determines and documents customer's product and system functional requirements in order to determine the objectives for future phases of the project.
• Develops and executes hardware design verification test plans.
  • Develops and executes hardware design verification test plans per requirements specifications to ensure prototypes meet design requirements.
• Develops hardware and system concepts.
  • Develops hardware and system concepts that satisfy the customer's requirements.
• Evaluates risks and trade-offs.
  • Effectively evaluates the risks and trade-offs associated with technical decisions to ensure project financial objectives are met and quality is maintained.
• Participate in design reviews.
  • Participates in design reviews for customer projects to ensure quality design output.
• Serves as a technical leader.
  • Serves as a technical leader to ensure that overall system architecture meets customer requirements and appropriate design processes are used.
• Supports the development and assembly of prototypes.
  • Support the development and assembly of prototypes by providing documentation and assistance to ensure high quality prototypes are built in a timely manner.
• Implement and verify the hardware design by using the appropriate tools.
• Maintains a high level of technical competence and state-of-the-art awareness.
