We are seeking qualified contractors/small business owners to reinforce approximately 2.5 miles of fencing at White Bird Battlefield. This includes 0.5 miles of four-rail jackleg (buck and rail) fence and adding two strands of barbed wire to approximately 2 miles of wildlife-friendly fencing. Additionally, the project involves replacing an 8-foot gate with a 16-foot gate for agricultural equipment access.

Requirements:

  • Necessary insurance and past performance reviews are mandatory.
  • Ability to provide all labor, equipment, and materials for the project.

Project Scope of Work / Contract Line Items:

  • Reinforcement of Fencing:
  • Install structures, anchor posts, or h-braces at a maximum of 400 feet apart (closer in uneven terrain).
  • Use sufficient bracing to maintain wire tension.
  • Wire specifications: coated or double-twisted for visibility, top wire/rail no more than 42" above ground, and bottom wire/rail at least 16" above ground.
  • 6 ft steel posts at 12-16.5-foot intervals; assess and reuse or replace based on condition.
  • Attach wire to wood posts with galvanized fence staples and to metal t-posts with galvanized T-post fence clips.
  • Gate Installation:
  • Install four 8-foot gates, powder-coated and made of tubular steel.
  • Gates must be able to swing 90 degrees when fully opened and lock with a chain and padlock.
  • Bury gate posts a minimum of two feet for stability.
  • Jackleg Panels:
  • Construct 4-pole jackleg panels, 16 feet in length, with a centered support jack.
  • Refer to attached jackleg (buck and rail) specifications for details.
  • Removal and Disposal/Repurposing of Old Fence:
  • Remove old t-posts and fence wire from the property.
  • Dispose of or repurpose the old fence materials in accordance with state laws.
  • Submit a formal request for repurposing to the COR, with approval granted via formal email.

Submission Instructions:

  • Provide lump sum pricing for contract line items.
  • Submit insurance documentation and past performance reviews.
  • Deadline for submission: A week before June 3.

Qualifications
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and heavy lifting
- Experience in construction, carpentry, and frame carpentry
- Knowledge of welding techniques
- Familiarity with concrete forming and finishing
- Skills in landscape maintenance, hardscape, assembly, and masonry

Pay: $23.44 - $28.23 per hour
