NextEra Energy Resources is one of the largest wholesale generators of electric power and renewable energy from the wind and sun in North America.
Position Specific Description
We are looking for a Data Scientist to support development of our energy-management system, which enables electric vehicle fleets to scale with ease. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of key modeling techniques and software modules for our fleet-centric smart-charging system, develop new features for our two advisory software products (EValuate and rEVeal), and make a real-world impact by cleaning up our transportation sector one fleet at a time.
As a Data Scientist at eIQ Mobility (a NextEra Energy Resources company), you will:
- Design, build, and maintain distributed software and data systems that estimate, simulate, and operate the smart charging of electrified vehicle fleets
- Collaborate with colleagues, customers, and partners
- Write production-quality code in Python
- Deliver new functionality by applying data analysis, optimization, machine learning, and other modeling solutions as appropriate
- Generate actionable insights from data and communicate them effectively to multiple stakeholders
- Use (and grow!) your knowledge of statistics, optimization, control systems, applied mathematics, data analysis, machine learning, data engineering, software engineering, and software development
- Review colleagues’ work before it goes into production, ensuring quality, reliability, and conformance with best practices
- Develop and maintain effective documentation of designs and specifications, observations, analyses and interpretation of results, assignment statements, and incident post-mortems
- Communicate complex technologies to stakeholders who may not be trained in them.
- Contribute to a positive team dynamic across human and technical domains
- At times work within tight timelines, balance multiple projects, and adapt to uncertain objectives
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will also:
- Implement complex and loosely defined problem statements
- Lead cross-team design efforts to reach solutions acceptable to stakeholders and deliver them
- Bring new technical capabilities to the team and ensure their adoption
- Model and mentor productivity
