The Accounting Specialist requires strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills, as well as strong attention to detail. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are also required. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and some experience with Epicor or other ERP systems is preferred. Work experience of at least 5-7 years and an associate degree in accounting is preferred.
The overall duties will include processing invoices from suppliers, responding to inquiries and reconciling account issues. Assist with monthly closing, reconciliations, and the annual financial audit. Provide cross-functional financial support. Evaluate, improve, and implement accounting procedures, workflows and financial management systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Matching, batching, entering supplier invoices into the ERP system
- Coordinate with department managers for supplier invoice approvals
- Analyzing invoices for use tax
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Preparing customer invoices
- Customer RMA credit resolution
- Processing customer cash receipts
- Assisting with customer collections
- Month End Financial Close
- Reconcile accounts related to AR and AP
- Evaluate AP invoices for accruals
- Other
- Assists with the annual audit
- Continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures
- Maintains knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) with continuing eduction
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in Accounting, or five to seven years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer skills required: Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); ERP Software (Epicor or similar)
